Cinematic Image and Historical Experience: "Spectres of Colonial Whiteness"
On December 4th 2017, Erica Carter will give the Fourth Cinepoetics Lecture at the Berlin Arsenal on "Spectres of Colonial Whiteness." The lecture elaborates on recent reckonings with white ghosts in post-colonial film, connecting these with films including Jean-Marie Ténos' Le Malentendu Colonial (2004), Martin Baer's Weisse Geister (2004) and Claire Denis' Chocolat (1988) as well as Isaac Juliens Installation "Fantôme Afrique."
Ulrich Köhler: Schlafkrankheit (2011)
Cinepoetics cordially invites Berlin residents and visitors to join the group on December 04 at 19:00 at the Kino Arsenal, Potsdamer Platz (Berlin). Free admission for the lecture. Le Malentendu Colonial (Jean-Marie Téno, CMR/F/D 2004) will be screened before the lecture at 17:00; Kino Arsenal will charge its usual admission for the film screening.
